New Goodie Store Opens!

Schattenbaum's New Goodie Store Opens On LANDS'END.com!

The new and improved goodie store is finally here. The club has partnered with LANDS’END to provide online access to the club store. Our members can access the store by direct link to the LANDS’END site or simply shop directly from the Schattenbaum website; the choice is yours.

Once there, you can pick items that are listed in the categories at the top of the web page and add our logo for an additional fee of $5.95. You have the choice of 2 different colors of the logo to place on your chosen item.

Once you have completed your order and paid for the item, you will receive your order within 7-10 days. The new store allows for more chooses and eliminates the need to store inventory.

Schattenbaum will be holding its Annual Spring Winery Concours on Sunday May 20th at Amalthea Winery.

Amalthea Winery, 209 Vineyard Road Atco, NJ

Amalthea Winery is nestled in the heart of South Jersey and features some of the finest dry red and white wines locally available as well as a selection or semi-dry and semi-sweet varieties.

Cars will be situated in the heart of this picturesque vineyard, surrounded by grape vines, grass fields and, hopefully, blue skies. Judging will include the exterior, interior and storage compartments. There will be no engine compartment judging for this event. Prizes will include preselected wines from the vineyard’s wine list.

The event will begin at 10:30. The cost be $10 per person payable at the event, and will include free wine tasting, a tasting glass with the Amalthea logo on it and a catered lunch. Bulk wine discounts will also be available.

If you plan on attending this event, we ask that you please RSVP to Concours@schattenbaum.org by May 13th so that we can plan accordingly

President's Corner

WOW, its 2012 - I can’t believe it. While most people write about how quick the past year went, I think I feel a bit differently. So much went on in 2011 - my first year as President - that it seemed to go on forever. It is always fun to look at a clean slate and plan great things for the future, but I like to look back and review where we’ve been.

We started out last spring with a great event at New Jersey Motorsports Park in March. We combined a driving tour, BBQ and Driver’s Ed event all in one to offer a little something for everyone. In typical Schattenbaum fashion, it was fun as well as easy going. In fact, I got a lot of emails the following week about how much fun it was. This year we are going to do it again and hopefully a few more members will join us [See more about this tour below].

Last year was also a year when we had new twists on old favorites. We continued some great events like the Wine Taster’s Concours, Lobster Run and our annual Spring Social, but there were new locations for each of them. Without exception the results were very good. The new venues for what have traditionally been great outings just freshened up the events and made them better. The Wine Taster’s car show at Almathea Winery in Atco was a very pleasant surprise for most. Even Mother Nature loved it and held off the rain till 5 minutes after the event was over. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for our Family Summer Picnic or the Scahttenbaum Showdown PCA Club Race. I have never seen so much rain! In fact Hurricane Irene took it upon herself to visit the Club Race. It is absolutely insane how much water came from the sky on these two August events. It was so bad that I didn’t even feel the relief from our July heat waves.

Well, hopefully no earthquakes, heat waves or hurricanes will diminish the appeal of this year’s events. I do know that even it if does we will continue another great Schattenbaum year.

May Monthly Member Meeting
Bungs Tavern
May 23rd 6:30PM!
Car Show / Consours

Our May 23rd meeting will start a bit
earlier than usual (6:30 PM) in order
to take advantage of the day light. This
meeting in Bung’s parking lot will be a
Peroni beer sponsored mini car show
complete with "The Peroni Girls" who
will have handouts and promo items.
The attractive ladies will also participate
as impartial judges and award prizes.
Weather and daylight permitting we will
attempt to have the entire meeting
outdoors.
We will sample Peroni beer as well as
other brews while we admire the…um…
cars and the sun sets over the trees.
Join us for some low key great fun.

Join us for a night of information sharing!
Schattenbaum has a diverse membership and at this meeting will we will hear exactly what products and /or services some of our members have to offer.

The evening’s agenda will include, among others, Rob Provost from Provost Motor Sports, Dan Petchel from Cars “I got that" Inc., Mike Bono and John Biedler with information on Physical Therapy.
Other members are invited to participate in these informal infomercial-type presentations whether your product is tires, oil, insurance or racing stripes.
